Home Sweet Home

May 16, 2011 - Moving Day!

At long last, we are now residents of 2165 Highway 169

Come on inside!

The living room is directly after the foyer...

Let's go upstairs next...Calvin will show you the way...

There are two rooms upstairs in the balcony area and a bathroom. The bonus room is off to the left over the garage (no photos of that room right now - way too many boxes in there!)

At the top of the stairs is Mary Lou's room:

Upstairs Bathroom.

This is the Guest Bedroom upstairs - the first guest to use it has to organize it - just kidding - as you can see we still have a few things to unpack!

I'll let you go downstairs without me..I'm tired and I'll watch from my favorite monitoring/napping spot.

Here's Mary Lou's other room:

We enjoy sitting here in the morning with our coffee watching the birds, rabbits, squirrels, etc.

Master bedroom - looking out the door to the back porch/deck.

Master bath - toilet room with a pocket door is between the two vanities.  The master closet is at the end of the bathroom.

Shower in master bath - our builder is truly a craftsperson when it comes to tile as well as woodwork.  Dave Vesel , Code Plus Construction.  http://www.codeplusmn.com/

Tub in master bath.

Laundry room - door into garage to the left.

Work room adjacent to laundry room.  There is a laundry sink out in the garage.

This is Herman's room/office - directly off the foyer he still has a bit of work to do in this room.

Ok, for those of you who are interested in the "mechanical stuff", here you go:

Steffes unit - off peak electric - radiant in floor heating system.  We have propane for back-up (fireplace), and will be purchasing a generator.

Water treatment/softening system.

                                                                          Air exchange system.

Electronic-stuff...satellite tv, etc.

So...that's quite a lot of photos!  Sorry it took so long to update the blog, but as you can see, things have been busy around here!  Herman has been busy working at Thrivent while at the same time working outside trying to stay ahead of the tall grass...

Not to mention the occasional tree-trimming:

Luckily, this tree fell AWAY from the garden shed.  It was a very windy day here a week or so ago - we thought we were back in SW MN!  Mary Lou was outside washing wndows when this big old pine tree fell down - very loud, not to mention scary!
Good thing Herman likes to use his chain saw.

Time to get at unpacking those last boxes...good thing we have such an excellent helper.

THANK YOU for following our blog during the building of our home.  This will be the last update Mary Lou will be doing on this site.  Even though there is PLENTY of work yet to do, particularly outdoors with landscaping, working on the driveway, the beach and much more - it is all part of the fun.  We are thoroughly enjoying "life in the woods" by Shagawa Lake.

Goodbye for now!  Stop and see us if you venture North!
~Mary Lou & Herman
